Naples Airport Is Closed for the Whole of November — Flights Moved to Salerno
Table of Contents
Naples Airport is closed to all commercial flights for the whole of November 2026, with no passenger planes using the airport from 1 to 30 November and reopening expected on 1 December.

This is a planned closure, not a strike. Operator GESAC is rebuilding the airport’s single runway and taxiways in a runway programme worth around €30 million, part of a wider €250 million masterplan. The works are expected to take around 24 days, with extra time built in for bad weather.
Around a third of Naples traffic has moved to Salerno Costa d’Amalfi airport, which is handling 15 destinations during the closure. Transavia is flying there from Amsterdam and Paris Orly, Vueling from Barcelona, Iberia from Madrid, Eurowings from Düsseldorf and Stuttgart, easyJet from Milan Malpensa, and flydubai from Dubai.
Not every airline has moved. Lufthansa Group has cancelled its November flights to Naples, rebooking passengers via Rome, while KLM and Volotea have paused their Naples services for the month.
Getting between Naples and Salerno is straightforward. A shuttle bus runs between Naples Piazza Garibaldi and Salerno airport eight times a day in each direction, and the fare is €12.
The closure affects flights only. Ferries from Naples ports to Capri, Ischia and Procida are running as usual, and Italy’s aviation authority ENAC is coordinating the arrangements.
Travellers with November flights out of Naples should check what has happened to their booking before heading to the airport. Some flights have moved to Salerno, others have been cancelled and rebooked through Rome, and a few have simply been paused. The airport code on the ticket tells the story: NAP is Naples, QSR is Salerno Costa d’Amalfi, and FCO is Rome Fiumicino.
What to do while Naples Airport Is Closed
Check the airport code on your ticket — NAP, QSR or FCO — before you travel, and confirm your departure airport and flight time with your airline. If you are flying from Salerno, allow time for the shuttle from Naples Piazza Garibaldi. If your flight was cancelled, ask your airline about rebooking or a refund. Naples Airport Is Closed for the whole of November, so check your trip before you travel.
